The Expecting Aerialist at the intersection of the aerial athlete’s lifestyle and motherhood. I share the stories of women from all over the world about their prenatal and postpartum journeys touching on topics such as pelvic floor dysfunction, diastasis recti & C-section recovery and postpartum mental health. Some guests are everyday women turned badass hobbyists and others are professionals currently performing for Cirque du Soleil.
I ask the key questions – How did they get back to what they love to do? How do they view their athletic body now that it has undergone birth? How was the emotional and mental transition to motherhood and how has it changed the way they see themselves? How do outsiders perceive athletic pregnant women? What is their routine and how can we learn from them?
“This podcast may seem like it is only for a niche community (which I admit we are rare birds) but it is about so much more than just aerial and motherhood. Kerry has covered so many topics that affect all of us and I can think of no more powerful way to stay connected than sharing stories. I loved the J Lo Baby #2 episode I just finished while nursing my 1 week old baby in the wee hours of the morning (thanks for keeping me awake and entertained)! I’ve been honored to be interviewed as well about my stories from now 3 pregnancies covering grief/loss and successful IVF with genetic testing! Thank you Kerry for what you do for our community.” – Dr. Rebecca Runge
“It is hard to find this information anywhere else, as this unique, demanding art can be so unknown to so many from the outside, and from the outside, there are so many opinions. Kerry goes to the inside to share -stories of training – how climbs and training change, not training – choice or pregnancy concerns, advice and stories for either, experiences, performance stories, returning to aerial arts, not returning to aerial arts as a performer, student, or instructor. This podcast helps with “what if” and “what when” concerns or questions. Kerry interviews inspiring people, each with unique specialties and stories: it will be okay. Thank you so much for putting this out there for all of us!” – T.W.
“Being 4 weeks postpartum, this podcast is airing at the perfect time for me. Kerry understands deeply the psychological challenges that aerialists face during and after pregnancy as our bodies change and our roles shift. She also brings in expert guests to share their experiences and offer advice for navigating the physical and emotional difficulties that come with pregnancy and birth. This podcast is extremely validating of the range of emotions and experiences that we go through as new and expecting mothers. Thank you for providing this resource and helping me feel connected to others who are going through the same thing.” – BanAnnagra
“Love it and can’t wait for more! Kerry is such a knowledgable expert in all things aerial and it’s so great to hear her wisdom here!” – Mytinybella
